Sister Annie Laura Stephens was born March 30, 1937, the eldest child of Charlie and Mamie Stephens in Tattnall County, Georgia. She graduated from Tattnall Industrial High School in 1955. In the 1960s, she moved to Cocoa Beach (Titusville), Florida. She was employed at the Cape Canaveral Space Center for over 20 years, and later retired form Ameris Bank.
In 1999, she returned to Glennville to be closer to her family. Wherever Annie Laura went, she never met a stranger. Always giving whatever had, looking for nothing in return. But if you were out of line, she always had a flyswatter or stick ready. She served faithfully at Greater Zechariah Missionary Baptist Church in the adult choir and also as President of the Pastor's Aide Board for many years.
In 2019, she returned to Titusville to live with her son Dave and his wife, Debra. She transitioned on April 28, 2025 at Cape Canaveral Hospital under hospice care.
Preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Harvey Stephens, and a son, Thomas Stephens.
She is survived by a son and daughter in law, Dave and Debra Stephens; a granddaughter, Deandra Dupree; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Barnard Berry; sister-in-law, Carolyn Stephens; and uncle, Harry Porter; like a sister, Angie Henry; like a son, Curtis Dupree; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
