Bishop Bennie Bacon Sr

September 15, 1928 — April 9, 2024

Mr. Bacon was born on September 15,

1928 in Bryan County to Mr. Rufus Bacon

and Lenora Underwood, and to this union

7 children were born. He entered into

eternal rest on April 9, 2024 at Evans

Memorial Hospital, Claxton, GA. In

December 1949 Mr. Bacon Married Miss

Eva Mae Jackson, and to this union 13

children were born.

Mr. Bacon started working at an early

age when he had to quit school to help his mother care for his siblings. His 1st

job was a newspaper delivery boy riding a bicycle in Savannah, Ga. He later

worked in the pulp-wood field until he started work at Burnsed Body Shop in

Claxton, GA. He worked for Maddox Body Shop, Glennville, GA and Brent Walker

Ford, Glennville, GA. He was also a small business owner with a shop in Jesup, GA

and one in the White Pine area of Glennville, GA. Mr. Bacon was later able to attend

Swainsboro Technical School, Swainsboro, GA where he obtained certification

to become a body-and-fender repairman. He later built a body shop in his yard

where he repaired autos for family and friends. He worked as a truck driver and

repairman for Dixon Motor Company in Claxton, GA for 20 years (1977 - 1997)

Mr. Bacon was skilled in playing the guitar, the harmonica, and was ambidextrous

enough to beat the drum and rub a rub-board simultaneously.

Mr. Bacon gave his life to the Lord in 1950 and served faithfully in the First

Christ Holiness Church, Glennville, GA where he became a deacon. He was then

elevated to Junior Bishop in Glennville, Ga and was later elevated to Senior Bishop

at Little Rock First Christ Holiness Church, Pembroke, GA where he served as

Pastor until his health failed.

In 1996 Mrs. Eva Bacon was suddenly called home to be with the Lord and

in 1998 Mr. Bacon married Miss Martha Lee Bacon. He is preceded in death by

his sister Ida Mae Brown and 6 brothers, George Bacon, Herman Bacon,

Clarence Bacon, Donnie Bacon, Elzie Bacon and Robert Bacon; grandsons:

Keith Bacon, Kerry Bacon, and Rodney Baldwin, a granddaughter: Jessica

Rivers.

Mr. Bacon leaves to mourn his passing his lovely wife Martha Lee Bacon, his

13 children, Mary Moorman, Dublin, GA, Dorothy Bacon, Sumter, SC, Martha

McKinney, Statesboro, GA, Lenora Owens (Tom), Jesup, GA, Benne

Bacon(Patricia)Glennville, GA, Lester Bacon(Brenda), Glennville, GA, Albert

Bacon(Shirley), Daisy, GA, Rebecca Bacon, Lexington, SC, Nathan

Bacon(Annette), Joanna, North Carolina, Elizabeth Williams( Elijah)

Lexington, SC) Margie Brewton(James), Allendale, SC, Roy Bacon(Sabella)

Fresno, CA, Jeryl Bacon(Tonja) Claxton, GA and his brother Alonzo Bacon,

Powder Springs, Ga, a sister Julia Bacon, Glennville, GA , 36 grandchildren and

over 100 great-grand children, a host of church associates, nieces, nephews and

friends.
