Bobby James Blackshear

April 23, 1948 — June 16, 2023

IN THE BEGINNING (JEREMIAH 1:5) Deacon Bobby James Blackshear Sr. was born on April 23, 1948, in Alamo, Georgia, to parents Alberta (Blackshear) Billings (Johnnie) and L.C. Geter (Mary). He was the husband of Rudena James Blackshear.

EDUCATION (2 TIMOTHY 2:15) He graduated from Trading school in Alamo, Georgia, on May 23, 1968. Shortly after graduating from Trading School, he was drafted into the United States Army and served his country from September 14, 1969, until August 13, 1974. He received the following decorations medals/ badges: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device. After serving in the Army, Bobby was accepted to attend South Georgia Technical and Vocational School on December 17, 1974.

THE UNION (PROVERBS 18:22): Bobby begins dating his wife, Rudena James, shortly after attending school. The two soon got married on May 19, 1977. He worked at the Egg Plant in Lumber City, Ga, and Hazlehurst Mills, where he retired after working for 30 years.

SERVANT FOR CHRIST (ROMANS 10:13): Later in life, Bobby found his faith in Christ and became a member at Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church, where Bishop R.L. Fryer was the pastor. 1985 Bobby received the Holy Ghost and lived a saved and holy life until his departure to be with the Heavenly Father. The first time he sang out loud in church after receiving the Holy Ghost was, "God has smiled on me." Bobby was not a singer; his famous quote if you were to ask him to sing, "I sing solo, so low you cannot hear me." With that being said, his singing after receiving the Holy Ghost lets you know how the joy of the Lord filled his life. In his years of serving as a member, he became a deacon, where he served for many years, and became Chairman Deacon at Bennett Tabernacle.

HOBBIES (PSALMS 1): His favorite thing was taking his boat to the lake and fishing. His wife and children loved that he would clean and fry the best-tasting fish after he went fishing.

He loved watching old Western television shows. He was a father, a husband, a brother, a son, and a friend. He loved his family and made sure at least one time out of the year to make the long trip to Belle Glade, Florida, to visit his mother, Stepfather, and siblings.

PROCEEDED HIM IN DEATH (JOHN 11:25-26): Proceeding him in death are his mother, Bertha Mae Billings, Stepfather, Johnnie Billings Sr., Biological Father, L.C. Geter, and Stepmother, Mary Geter. Two brothers, Samuel Lee Billings, and Johnnie Billings Jr.
