BOBBY GENE TANNER
FEBRUARY 21, 1954 – JANUARY 9, 2022
Bobby Tanner of Glennville Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Savannah Memorial Hospital after suffering a stroke.
Bobby was predeceased by both of his parents, Lonnie Gene Tanner and Claire Tanner Henderson.
Bobby was born in Nicholls, Georgia but grew up in Miami, Florida where he enjoyed playing billiards, fishing in the Florida Keys and air boating and hunting in the Florida Everglades. He also loved driving fast cars.
He moved to Georgia in 1982 where he did numerous things, such as planting pine trees, harvesting hay, pouring concrete and plumbing. He was very talented at whatever he set his mind to.
He later worked as a Corrections Officer at Georgia State Prison, rose through the ranks and retired as a Lieutenant.
He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Glennville.
He is survived by:
His sister, Debbie Carter of Tampa, FL
Niece, Ericka Young of San Antonio, FL
And two sons: Nathaniel Tanner of Reidsville, GA and Bobby Tanner Jr. of Lake City, FL.
He is also survived by his best friend of 52 years, Cleve Rolls and wife, Susan of Ludowici, GA.
He was loved by many and left behind lots of cousins and friends. Once you met Bobby, you considered him your friend.
Per Bobby's request there will be no service. His wish was to be cremated and buried at sea.
