Cleother Kennedy

April 10, 1941 — June 24, 2023

The hymn writer penned: I heard the voice of Jesus say, come

unto me and rest; Lay down, thy weary one, lay down, thy head upon my

breast. I came to Jesus as I was, Weary, and worn, and sad; I found in

him a resting - place, and he has made me glad. On Saturday, June 24,

2023, Mr. Cleother Kennedy heard God's voice while at Memorial

University Medical Health in Savannah, Georgia, and swiftly took flight

to be in the presence of God at the beautiful age of 82.

Born on March 10, 1941, in Glennville, Tattnall County,

Georgia, Mr. Kennedy was one of six children born to the parentage of

Mrs. Sarah Richardson Kennedy and Mr. Henry Kennedy, Sr. He was

preceded in death by both parents; three brothers, Henry Jr., Joe, and

Henton; and one sister, Nancy Collins.

Mr. Kennedy was educated in the Tattnall County School System.

As an adult, he was gainfully employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator

by the State of Georgia, utilizing his skills and talents to earn a living

for himself and his family. Nothing brought more joy to his life than

spending time with those whom he adored, his family and friends.

In life, there are many things that capture one's interests and

make them unique. Mr. Kennedy was an avid coon hunter and outwitted

some of the smartest coons around in his day. Not only was the hunt

exciting and rewarding to him, but it gave him great stories to tell all

that would listen. Being a great outdoorsman, it was only natural that

he also loved to fish. Although he loved hunting and fishing, one of his

favorite foods to eat was shrimp, and he loved cooking ribs on the grill.

Everyone knows that when ribs hit the grill, a cookout soon erupts. When

Mr. Kennedy wasn't involved in outdoor activities, he was enjoying a

great card game with family and friends, sharing laughter, telling

stories, and just having the greatest of times living life to its fullest.

Mr. Cleother Kennedy lasting memories shall be cherished by his

daughter, Bonnie Lockhart; one sister, Alfreda Collins (husband, Wiley

Collins); one brother-in-law, Issar Collins; one granddaughter, Janine

Lockhart; three grandsons, Andre Rawls, Kevin Littles, Sr. and

Deangelo Lockhart; four great-grandsons, Kemaury Collins, Kevin

Littles, Jr., Kelan Lockhart and Khyser Lockhart; other relatives and

many sorrowing friends.
