"Coach" Jackson

August 9, 1965 — September 12, 2023

Cornelia Annette Jackson was born on August 9, 1965, to the late Waymon and Josie Jackson in Miami, FL. She departed this life on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, surrounded by her children, siblings, and extended family members. It was such a glorious moment to stand on the sidelines to witness Coach Jackson enter her heavenly courts.

In the early 1980's, she joined Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church. Proverbs 18:16 informs us that our gift will make room for us and bring us before the right people. Cornelia used her gift of exhortation, teaching, and coaching to witness to her students and others about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She faithfully used her talents not only to impact the lives of those she had a privilege to cross paths with but to glorify God.

Cornelia graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1983. She once stated, "My whole life was devoted to sports. I lived, slept, and on occasions ate sports. I was determined to be the best athlete in the south part of Georgia." Cornelia accepted a basketball scholarship to University of South Carolina in Spartanburg, SC and played for two years. She swiftly transitioned from sports to being a mother of two beautiful children. Cornelia earned an Associate of Science, Macon College (1990), Bachelor of Arts, Brewton-Parker College (1993), Master of Education, Cambridge College (2003), and a Certificate of Advance Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership, Cambridge College (2007). Cornelia was a proud United States Army Veteran. She served in the United States Army Reserves from 1993-2003 as a Combat Medic. Cornelia retired from Swainsboro High School after 27 years of teaching Health & P.E and coaching basketball, cross country, and track.

Cornelia was predeceased by her brother, Waymon Yarnell Jackson, Jr. (1989); two grandchildren: Tyia (2003) and Tyon Hunt (2005); mother, Josie K. Jackson (2018); and father, Waymon Y. Jackson, Sr. (2020).

Cornelia leaves her cherished memories with her daughter, Rev. Shatoya P. Aylor (James); son, Willie J. Hunt; and grandchildren, Kirah & Kash Aylor; Siblings: Evangelist Patricia Jackson, Johnny Will Jackson, Shelia Hall (Alford), and Roderick Ringold (Yolanda); Niece: Aaliyah Ringold; Nephews: Antonio Jackson, Andrei Hall (Grace), Min. Roderick Ringold, Jr., and Brad Nails; Devoted Friend: Michele Burney. She will forever be remembered by her extended family and special friends.
