David Thomas Bacon

Oct 26, 1943 — May 16, 2026

Glennville, Georgia

On October 26, 1943, in the quiet town of Glennville, Georgia, a life began that would come to touch generations with strength, humility, devotion, and perseverance. David Thomas Bacon was born to the late Tommie Bacon and Debbie Hendrix-Bacon, and from his earliest days, he embodied the values of hard work, faith, family, and resilience.

David’s journey through life was marked by determination and an unwavering commitment to bettering himself and those around him. His educational path carried him from Hall Town School to Glennville High School and Reidsville High School before his family relocated to Florida. There, he proudly graduated from Crooms High School in Sanford, Florida. A gifted athlete with a passion for basketball, David attended Carver Junior College in Cocoa, Florida, where he showcased both discipline and talent on the court before continuing his education at Brevard Community College.

For many years, David dedicated his life to service through his employment with the United States Postal Service in Jacksonville, Florida. Behind the wheel of large trucks and tractor-trailers, he faithfully transported mail and packages between postal facilities, distribution centers, and local post offices, helping keep communities connected across miles and states. He carried out his duties with quiet dignity and dependability until declining health required his retirement.

Even after retirement, David’s spirit of service did not fade. He returned to his beloved hometown of Glennville, Georgia, where he found comfort in the familiar embrace of family, faith, and community. A devoted member of Beulah #1 Baptist Church, he remained grounded in his belief in God and committed to fellowship for as long as his health allowed. Never one to sit idle, he continued working with Bland Farms and Tattnall High School, demonstrating the same tireless work ethic that defined his life.

David’s life was not measured merely by years, but by the love he poured into others and the legacy he leaves behind. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Tommie Bacon and Debbie Hendrix-Bacon; his beloved sister, Judy Bacon; his brother, Larry Bacon; his son, Stevie Bacon; and his cherished triplet great granddaughters, Kamaya, Kylie, and Kioni. Though their absence undoubtedly weighed heavily upon his heart, David carried himself with quiet strength and enduring grace.

To know David was to know loyalty, wisdom, and steadfast love. He leaves behind a family who will forever treasure his memory and carry his spirit forward: his devoted daughter, Sandra Bacon Donalson; his sons, Shawn Bacon and Quinta Bacon (Cynthia); his loving sister, Genette Edwards; his cherished brothers, Johnny Bacon (Dorothy) and Bernard Bacon; and devoted friends James Grant, who was more like a brother than a friend, Terry Smith, and Broderick and Shirley Frazier. He also leaves behind his former wife and forever friend, Eunice S. Monroe, with whom he created many fond memories throughout the years.

His legacy also lives on through a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, neighbors, and all whose lives were enriched by his presence.

David “Debo” Thomas Bacon was a man of perseverance, dignity, and quiet greatness - a provider, a father, a brother, a friend, and a faithful servant of God.

Though his earthly journey has ended, the impact of his life continues to echo through the hearts of those who loved him. His memory will forever remain a guiding light, reminding us that a life lived with humility, faith, and love leaves behind a legacy death can never erase.
