Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord and in his law does he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters that bringeth forth continually his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth it shall continue to prosper.
Mr. Albert Flynn, Jr., a cherished and faithful servant of God, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the seasoned age of 91. Born May 24, 1933 to the parentage of Albert Flynn Sr. and Corrie Baker, Mr. Flynn was a devoted family man, a pillar of strength, and a source of unwavering faith for his community.
Genesis 2:18 states, "And the Lord God said, it is not good that the man should be alone, I will make him an help meet for him." Mr. Flynn met and married the love of his life, his help meet, Evangelist Louise Ray Flynn, on July 30, 1955. To this great union, eight loving, adorable children were born who were a source of immense pride and joy. He was saved in the year of our Lord 1956, under the leadership of Bishop H. J. Echols, and served untiringly under Bishop Echols and other proceeding pastors of First Born Church of the Living God. Inc. later being changed to HJ Echols Memorial Tabernacle. It is at First Born Church of the Living God. Inc. that Mr. Flynn became Deacon Flynn and served faithfully in this capacity as the Lord willed for him to do. A dedicated member of his church, Deacon Flynn, affectionately known as "Deac", attended Sunday School and church services regularly, embodying the teachings of the Bible in his daily life. His commitment to the Lord was evident in his consistent tithing and active participation in the prayer band, where he interceded fervently for the needs of others. He exemplified the Christian virtues of love, compassion, and service and was committed to following God's word. He continued to exemplify those values under the leadership on his son Bishop Michael Flynn at HJ Echols Memorial Tabernacle as you will often capture the two of them dancing in the presence of the Lord together.
Deacon Flynn was a devoted husband and father, a beloved grandfather, and a steadfast friend to many. He was respected and respectful, accountable, both morally and spiritually, upheld his commitments and supported his family. His legacy of faith, love, and dedication will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by a son Richard V. Flynn, and his parents, Albert Flynn Sr. and Corrie Baker Lee.
Those left to cherish precious life-long memories are his childhood sweetheart, never separated, devoted wife of 69 years, Evangelist Louise Flynn; his children, Minister Greg Flynn, Errol Flynn, Bishop Michael (Fannie) Flynn, Judy Flynn (daughter-in-law), Minister Tim (Elizabeth) Flynn, Missionary Kalista (Conner) Flynn-Carter, Albert (Angela) Flynn III, and Jorel (Christy) Flynn; 23 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Mother Algertha Perry of Waycross, GA; 1 brother-in-law, Henry James Ray of Detroit, MI; and a host of devoted church members, spiritual sons and daughters, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
It takes a special man to make a difference in our lives. While he won't hear us sing his favorite song, "Sign of the Judgment" and while we won't hear him repeat his favorite sayings, "All is well" and "I'm still here", we take great comfort in knowing that he is now in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. For a life well lived, well done good and faithful servant. Well done.
