Derrick Lashawn Vann entered eternal rest on Monday, July 29, 2024,
at his home in Hazlehurst, GA. He was born on September 11, 1970,
to the late Aaron Vann and Phelicia Ann Howell Chatman in Lumber
City, Georgia.
His educational experience included the Telfair County School
System and the Job Corps in Brunswick, where he received CDL
training in 1989. He was a member of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist
Church in Lumber City, GA.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He has worked at Amercord,
Hazlehurst Mills, and as a truck driver in his employment history.
Preceding him in death were his son, Darrien Bryson, his
grandparents, Author and Roxie Howell and Horace and Laura Ann
Vann. He leaves to cherish many fond memories to: his wife, Cathy
Vann of Alamo, GA; two loving sons, Brandon Vann of Tallahassee,
FL and Marcus Vann of Virginia; two brothers: Turner Chatman, Jr. of
Douglas, GA and Levon Chatman, Sr. of Lumber City, GA; two
uncles, Emory Howell of Orange, NJ and Finley Vann of Graham,
GA; one aunt, Wardean Carter of Hazlehurst, GA; like an aunt, Ava
Bess of Glenwood, GA; one nephew, Levon Chatman, Jr. of Lumber
City, GA; a dear friend, Jimmy Hunt of Hazlehurst, GA; and a host of
cousins and friends.
