A Time to Be Born
Ellery was born October 11, 1948 in Collins, GA to Inell and Roosevelt Pough, Sr. he was educated in the Tattnall County School System and attended Tattnall Industrial High School, where he played trumpet in the band. When asked if he was a good trumpet player, he responded, "I was in the band!"
A Time to Live
In 1969 he moved to Savannah, GA and began working as a Fabricator at Great Dane Trailers. He later became a Welder. He continued his employment at the Kroger Company. As a small business owner, he ran Pough's BBQ in Collins, GA and started Pough's Landscaping in 1979. In 1980, he and Ann Quarterman were blessed with a daughter, Ebony and a bonus daughter, Yolanda.
A Time to Die
After a courageous battle, Ellery answered the Lord's call and is now playing his trumpet in the heavenly band. He was preceded in death by his parents; Inell and Roosevelt Pough, Sr.; his paternal grandparents Tom and Esther Pough and his maternal grandparents Mertice and Willie Cliff Ealey; and by his brothers Conny Pough, Sr. (Sherrie Anne), Freddie Pough, Sr. (Annette), Titus Pough and an Aunt, Dr. Clifford Lee E. Rhynes.
A Time to Mourn
Ellery leaves to mourn his passing his son, Sharief Travis Quarterman; his daughter, Ebony Nicole Pough and his step-daughter, Yolanda King- Howard (Anthony); Nine grandchildren: Joshua Sharief Quarterman, Aniyah Yasmine Green, Travis Nyleek Mitchell, Bethany Rebekah Pough- Patterson, Sa'Hariya Pinkney, Sanai Quarterman, Brayden James Zahir Pough, Anthony Java Howard and Brionne' Sarah Amina Pough; Four brothers: Orbit Pough, Sr. of Miami, FL, Timothy (Shirley) Pough of Dallas, TX, Roosevelt Pough, Jr. of Savannah, GA and Michael (Lena) Pough Sr. of Miami, FL; One sister: Grace (Clarence) Hall of Collins, GA; One Uncle Willie (Dorothy) Ealy of Savannah, GA; a special "twin" sister: Florence Perry Stephens; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
