Mrs. Elouise Bryant McCoy Horne was born on July 31, 1946 in Hazlehurst, Georgia to the late Mrs. Sylvia Bryant Hatten and the late Mr. Grady McCoy. She departed this life on Saturday, August 21, 2021.
Mrs. Elouise Horne attended the public schools of Jeff Davis County School System. At an early age, she joined Hazlehurst House of God under the spiritual guidance and ethical leadership of the late esteemed Pastor Ruby L. Thomas. She loved the Lord and was devoted to her family and was a homemaker. She was married to Mr. L. C. Horne, and they reared seven children together. A creative homemaker who believed in keeping an immaculate house, Elouise was known for preparing her children's favorite foods. Whatever they requested, she would cook it, sprinkle it with a mother's love and affection. One of her son's favorite dishes that she regularly cooked was smothered pork chops, tomatoes and rice, and seasonal vegetables. She was friendly, outgoing, loving, and kind. She had a wonderful sense of humor, an infectious laugh, and a beautiful smile.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mr. L. C. Horne; son Mr. Andre Horne; daughter Ms. Shoni Walker; siblings: Mr. Grady Coleman McCoy, Mr. Isaac Lawton, and Ms. Lillia Baker; aunt, Mrs. Gussie Jones; uncle Mr. Perry Bryant; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Burger and Mrs. Vera Lee West; brothers-in-law, Mr. Leonard McLauren and Mr. John Henry Horne.
Mrs. Elouise Horne leaves to cherish her precious memories, four sons: Tracy (Aaronica) Horne of Lumber City, GA, Clarence "Red" (Lashaun) Horne of Hinnesville, GA, Darrell (Angel) Horne of Uvalda, GA and Coleman Latrell Horne of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Tabatha Smith of Hazlehurst, GA; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
