Minister Evelena Smith Kennedy was born on January 30, 1941, to John Henry and Wornie Wilcox Cummings. Her parents and two siblings preceded her in death Janet Cummings, John Henry Cummings Jr.
Minister Kennedy spent her formative years in Tattnall County and went to the Tattnall County Industrial high school until she made her home in New York. In New York, she met and married her husband Willie George Smith, and to this union, a daughter and son were born. Minister Kennedy lost her husband, and later she returned home to Glennville, GA, to be near her family.
Minister Kennedy met and married her husband John Kennedy, who preceded her in death. Ministry Kennedy worked at the Glenvue Nursing Home until her retirement, and she was a faithful member of Zion Temple Church and would attend her services with love and enthusiasm for the Lord. Due to failing health, she could not participate in her services in person; she continued her outreach ministry.
On May 20, 2021, Minister Evelena Smith Kennedy transitioned from her earthy home to be with the Lord, and his peace ushered her into eternal rest.
