SFC Gary Anthony Levant was born on April 6, 1963 in Evans Co. to the Late Landers Levant Jr & Mrs. Eula Johnson Levant of Glenville, Georgia. He accepted Christ at an early age at first African Baptist Church of Glenville, Georgia under the leadership of Rev EJ Jr. SFC Levant departed this world into eternal glory on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, GA.
He was educated in the Tattnall County school systems and graduated from Glenville high school class of 1981. After receiving his high school diploma, he enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably for 38 years. Gary deployed overseas to operation desert storm, the Bosnian war, and operation Iraqi freedom. He received multiple prestigious awards throughout his military career. He retired in December 2022. After retirement, Gary enjoyed gardening, grilling and spending time with his grandchildren.
Gary was an humble, kind man willing to help anyone in the community and always greeted you with the warm smile.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving devoted wife of 33 years, Vondell Armstrong Levant. His three daughters: Taquita (Levar) Sykes of Chester, VA, Anita (Craig) Wiggins of Jacksonville, FL and Amy Levant of Glennville, GA.
8 grandchildren: TyQuan Brown, TyShawana Brown, Jaden Winston, Christopher Jenks, Lauren Porter, Christian Wiggins, Chloe Wiggins & Cami Shannon. 1 great grandchild, Azaria Sykes.
His mother, mother Eula Levant, one sister, Sandra (Gary) Harmon, two brothers, Donnie (Andrea) Levant, Danny Levant, and one brother in law, Dennis Armstrong.
Five godchildren: Lori Jenks, Precious Scott, Khalil Berry, Chance Purdiman & CJ Purdiman.
A host of nieces, nephews aunts, uncles, cousins colleagues, family, and friends.
