George Willcox

George Willcox of Jones County, North Carolina was 86 years of age. He was born August 22, 1923, in Telfair County, Georgia and accepted Christ at an early age. He departed this life on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Riverstone Assistive Living Center, New Bern, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma L. Chieves Willcox, father, George Roscoe Willcox, and his siblings, Naomi Willcox Sanders, Rose Lee Willcox Nobles, Eddie H. Willcox, Howard Willcox, Euris Willcox, Eunice Willcox and Kelly Willcox. He is survived by two sisters, Ida Mae McMillian and Inell Ware, both of Hazlehurst, Georgia; and three brothers Reverend Valda Willcox and Chester Willcox, both of Dublin, Georgia, and Hurbert Willcox of Richmond, Virginia. On May 6, 1951, George Willcox married Lucy Clara Rich of Bayboro, North Carolina. To this union, one child was born, George Russell Willcox of Richmond, Virginia. Russell Willcox is married to Willie Ann Towne Willcox of Marvell, Arkansas. Russell and Willie Ann have one daughter, Angela D. Minor of Upper Marlboro, Maryland. George Willcox distinguished himself as a master craftsman. He was a master craftsman in the fields of design, engineering and technology. His technical skill and work in the areas of building/construction, cabinet making, electricity and plumbing was exemplary! He was successfully self-employed for decades. George Willcox was a true supporter of his siblings' children when they were in need or sort advice. He believed in helping others without being concerned about the personal sacrifice of his contributions. On January 11, 1986, George Willcox was ordained in the ministry of Jesus Christ, Church of God in Christ, Inc. Reverend George Willcox loved helping others. His life's work will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched! Funeral service will be held 12:00 noon, Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Oscar's Memorial Chapel with Deacon Russell Willcox, officiating. Viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 10:00 a.m.to 11:30 a.m.Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Oscar's Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be Friday June 4, 2010 at King Brothers Funeral Home from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm The interment will be held Saturday June 5, 2010 at Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery, Hazlehurst, Georgia.
