Idella Fisher

April 14, 1955 — April 14, 2020

On a very special day, April 14, 1955, God sent a gentle, loving and caring soul to bestow the earth. This soul was known as Idella (Della). She was raised in a large family in Hazlehurst, Georgia. As a child she would run around wildly with her older siblings and determine to keep up with them in rough play. Although she loved being with her family in Georgia, she was eventually chosen by her Father's sister, Aunt Maddie to live in Red Bank, New Jersey. She made many friends and was very outgoing and friendly. She enjoyed going to church and events with her father's sister. She was very athletic and ran track and played basketball in school. After living in New Jersey for about ten years she returned back to Hazlehurst to attend school and be with the rest of her siblings. Even though she was glad to be back, she was still yearning for something more out of life. Della eventually ended up moving to Ft. Meade, Fla with her older siblings. It was there she met her husband (our dad), the late Ivory Eugene Robinson. In this union, they made four beautiful daughters, Latonia, LaVonia, Shandalyn, and Lashon. Della loved being a mother and would often show her girls off when going out shopping or visiting relatives. Being a proud mother and wife, she made sure she gave all of her attention and love to her daughters. Being a young mother was challenging for Della and her husband, and it caused them to separate. However, they both continued to raise and shower their daughters with extra love that would eventually pay off in the end. After the separation, she moved back to Georgia to be around family. Although she enjoyed her family and children, she did struggle with being a mom. However, her mother was there to give her strength and was able to take care of the kids while she tried to figure out her life. This was in no way a reflection of her being a bad mom. Her daughter's understood that she did what she thought was best at the time. She has a special connection with her mother, the late Rosie Lee Fisher. They would often talk and discuss plans of what was in the future for her and the kids. Della moved a couple more times throughout the years living life to the fullest. She walked the earth as if there was no tomorrow. She knew that life was full of adventures and opportunities. She was not without fault, she had her ups and downs. She very often discussed with her daughters that she did not want them to take the path that she had taken in life. She warned them of the dangers in the world but allowed them to make their own decisions. It was her experiences that allowed her to guide and raise her daughter's to be successful and allowed them to define their our own definition of success. Della ended up living in Hazlehurst with her long time partner Ernest Legion whom she met while living in New Jersey. Hazlehurst was where she always wanted to be (close to her family). Although she wanted to relax and enjoy life, she continued working. She was very prideful and private and never wanted her children to know all the things that she was going through. Della was not a traditional grandmother but she would spoil them merciless, she enjoyed her quiet time. Her attitude throughout life was to live life to the fullest and enjoy what you do without no hesitation. She departed her earthly life on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Preceding her in death are her parents, Samuel and Rosie Fisher and one sister, Rosa Fisher. She leaves to cherish many laughters and fond memories to her partner Ernest Ligon of twenty five years. Four daughters, Latonia Robinson of Oakland, California, Dr. LaVonia (Desmon Sr.) Smith of Pickerington, Ohio, Shandalyn Fisher of Hazlehurst, Georgia, Lashon Fisher of Tampa, Florida. Six grandkids: Desmon Jr, Troy, Aaliyah, LaDrea, Ivy and Bryson. Eight Siblings: Olivia, Samuel, Maxine, Carlo, Mary, Melva, Susie, Sharon, Linda, Randy. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews.
