Mrs. Ilene Hagan King was the beloved daughter of the late Leroy and Edna Hagan. Ilene was an affectionate, dedicated, and hardworking woman who consistently placed the needs of others above her own. Born in Glennville, Georgia, Ilene later moved to Stone Mountain, Georgia, with her devoted husband, James King, and their three children: Evelyn, Brandon, and Michael.
Ilene was a faithful member of Bethesda Temple, where she served as an usher and a member of the Nurses’ Guild. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and offer words of comfort to anyone in need. Her warm personality and encouraging spirit brought joy to all who knew her.
Professionally, Ilene retired from Kaiser Permanente Healthcare after 20 years of service as a nurse. She was known by both patients and coworkers for her compassion, dedication, and strong work ethic.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Maybell Hagan Forrest, Hope Hagan, Solomon Hagan and Early Hagan.
Ilene leaves cherished memories in the hearts of her loving family: her husband, James King; her children, Brandon and Michael of Stone Mountain, and Evelyn of Decatur; and her four grandchildren, Brandy, Brandon, Ava, and Eric. She is also survived by her siblings, Rosetta Nunnally and Edna Pearl Thomas (Ananias) of Glennville, Grady Hagan of Marietta, FL and Gail Porter of Lyons. Her siblings-in-law, Marilyn King, Alfreda Hagan, Diane Roberts (James) of Glennville; Margaret King Drinks of Stone Mountain; and her brothers-in-law, Cornelius King (Sharon), Charles Coleman of Glennville, Rufus King of Ellenwood, James Forrest of Richmond Hill and Edward Coleman of Lawrenceville.
Ilene’s passing will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her, especially her nursing family, who selflessly volunteered their time to ensure she received the very best care. They not only cared for Ilene but also supported the family by providing food and meeting every need. Words cannot fully express the family’s gratitude to these four angels who were there from beginning to end: Bonnie Zimmerman, Marion Leader, Andretta Rivers, and Crystal Snow. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to her devoted husband, who remained faithfully by her side, answering every call. He honored the promise he made to her mother before her passing—to always take care of her baby.
