In the late morning of Saturday, December 30th, 2023 in Vidalia, GA, Ira Lee Clemons passed away from cardiac arrest.
Ira was born on June 21st, 1947, to Ira Clemons Sr. and Sula Bell in Baxley, GA. He was the oldest son of five children. He graduated from Appling County Consolidated High School. He worked as a mechanic at the Hazlehurst Mill for decades where he retired in 2013. He was a faithful member of the Morgan Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.
In his life, Ira had many hobbies. Those close to him could find him fixing up cars, gardening, or hunting. He was a superb cook and had a gift for transforming anything he caught into a wonderful meal and was well known for his classic Southern cooking.
He was very active in his community. He was a volunteer firefighter, delivered food to the elderly, and worked as a member of the city council.
Ira was preceded in death by his mother, Sula; father Ira Sr; his 3 sisters Gloria, Elizabeth, and Martha. He leaves behind his brother Ivy Gene (Raylene); daughters, Trina (Terrance) and Rosalind (Rico); grandchildren: Terra, Kiyyah, Al-Antonio, and Zyven; a great-grandson Xavier, and a host of family and friends.
