Deacon Irving Walker Sr.

Irving Walker was born February 14, 1949, in Sylvania, Georgia to the late Rosetta and Albert Walker. He was educated through the Screven County School System and carried with him a strong work ethic.

Irving began his career as a logger before dedicating more than forty years as a truck driver with Wayne Durrence. During this time, he hauled mobile homes and drove concrete truck, working faithfully until the day he retired from clocking in. A true provider at heart, Irvin was known as a tireless hustler who ensured his family was always cared for.

Affectionately known as "the Skin Man", Irvin was a man of faith who served as Chairman Deacon of Irvin Walker, Sr, at ForeRunner's Revival Hub in Hinesville, Georgia. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His heart for others was evident in love he freely gave.

Irving cherished time with his family above all else. He delighted in family vacations and especially treasured moments spent with his grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren. whose lives were deeply enriched by his presence. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Laura Walker; three dearly beloved sisters, Betty Joe Grant, Queen Ester Grant and Gladys Doe, and two loving brothers, Junior Walker and L.C. Walker.

Irving Leaves to cherish his precious memories, his devoted wife of 58 years, Bishop Norma Walker; his children, Dernice Howard, Ervin Walker Jr., Steven (Shy Devos) Walker, and Mia (Terrance) Scott, and Raphael Howard, whom he lovingly raised as his own. One sister, Emma Lewis; Sisters in law, Earline Howard, Linda (Karrie) Doe, Harriet (Paul) Lisbon, Audrey (Reginald) Noel, Annette Marshall, Sandra Howard and Mell Howard; Brothers in law, Rickey Kimble, Tommy (Linda) Howard, and Scotty Kimble.

He also leaves a legacy of love with his grandchildren; Daniel (Meikaiya) Cooper Jr., Paige Walker, Dexter Cooker, Rakiel (Tyree) Wicker, Brittany Cooper, RAniesha Howard, Demontae Cooper, Stephen (Dehnea) Byrd, Stephen (Kenya) Byrd, Ste'Asia Byrd, Justin Walker, Samone Tootle, Brianna Walker, William King, Akeem Kelly, and Christopher Fate, along with 48 great-grandchildren.

Additionally, he leaves to cherish his memory, his godsons, Apostolic Bishop Dr. Bernard Bennett, Terrance James and Chief Apostle Dr. Carlos Wright II whom he loved like his sons. Very special cousins, Jack Johnson, Pete Johnson and Elder Grant. Special friends, Harvey Doe, Wallace Grant and Pastor Dexter Edwards. He was also known as "Black Santa" by his great-niece KayKay and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Irving Walker's life was one of dedication, love, faith and service--and enduring legacy that will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
