Ms. Janie Ruth McNeal was born in Glennville, Georgia to the parentage of the late Romella Bacon Fields and the late James (Chuck) McNeal on May 8, 1946. On the twenty-first day of July year of two thousand and twenty-one, she transitioned from her earthly home to eternal rest surrounded by her loving family.
She was a native of Tattnall County, where she was educated at Tattnall Industrial High School and played basketball throughout.
She was a woman of faith and trusted God in every aspect of her life, even until her final days. She had a personal relationship with God and accepted him as her Lord and Savior. At an early age, she joined First African Baptist Church of Glennville, Georgia under the leadership of the late Rev. E.J. Junior. She would also occasionally fellowship with Greater Zachariah Baptist Church in Glennville, where she enjoyed hearing the word of God from Dr. Rev. C. L. Anderson.
She was very personable and met no stranger. Everyone that knew her loved her affectionate smile and personality. She was known to many as Jean, Jeanie Ruth, Granny, or Grandma.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Romella Fields and James McNeal, one daughter: Ronell, three brothers: Donahue, John, and Tommie Sr., one sister: Louise Butler.
She leaves to cherish her memories forever: her children: Marquel McNeal of Savannah, Georgia, Arlene (Eric) Smith and Andrea McNeal of Glennville, Georgia, Kelvin (Veronica) McNeal Sr., of Reidsville, Georgia, Keith (Tara) McNeal, Sr., of Glennville, Georgia, Dr. Bishop Karen E. (Minister Carolyn) McNeal Sr., of Swainsboro, Georgia. One brother: Archie (Agnes) McNeal of Claxton, Georgia, One Sister: Bishop Dr. Deloris (Elder Joseph) Young of Hardeeville, South Carolina. Grandchildren: Anthony McNeal, L'Saundra (Albrian) Davis, Kelvin (Chiij) McNeal Jr., Antonio (MaShayla) McNeal, Mario McNeal, Marquita McNeal, Karon McNeal Jr., Alan (Fulena) McNeal, Kwashaad Cook, Amber Ford, Keith McNeal Jr., Ke'myron McNeal, Kasha Mincey, Edmond Richardson. Extended grandchildren: David Miller, Kyle Whitlock, Keyanna and Keira Cook. Great-grandchildren: A'zareeyah, Ke'Sean, KJ, Karter, Kinslee, AJ, Aiyden, Damarion, Uriel, Zamarria, Zay, MJ, Kayla, Jayden, Mimi, JaNae, Deivion, Landon, Ryan, Layla, Ari, Jayce. Special and close cousin: Willie Mae Moton of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Prayer Partners: Pastor Reba Feliciano, Minister Jimmie Nell Cain, and Rev. Lillie Pearl Taylor, Deacon Donnie Levant. Special friends: Robbie King, Leslie Morales, Marilyn King, Earnest Moore, Charlie, and Dorothy Cook, Scott Rogers. Long-time neighbor: Gracie Washington and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
