Jimmie McRae, affectionately known as "Skin" departed this life on July 2, 2018 at the Lumber City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on December 28, 1924 to the late Andrew and Carrie McRae.
He attended the Telfair County School System. He enlisted in the US Army on December 9, 1945. He was a member of the St. James CME Church.
He was joined in holy matrimony to the late Josephine Miller McRae on December 13, 1942 and to this union one son was born – the late Jimmy Lee McRae.
Jimmie loved to fish with his fishing partners/cousins - Helen "Tang" Clements and Charlie "Sport" Boyd. His daily hobby was riding his bicycle around town to the stores and to visit family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons - Jimmie Lee McRae and Howard "Butch" Kirk McRae; four brothers: Joseph McRae, Eddie McRae, Charlie McRae and Richard McRae, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one adopted daughter, Tina Josephine Butts; three grandsons: Jimmie Darnell (Shari) McRae, Barry and Curtis McRae, all of Alcoa, Tennessee. One devoted sister, Mary "Smitty" Stubbs of Lumber City, GA; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
