On this special day, February 11, 1938, Jimmy Hudson was born to Wornie Wilcox Cummings and Sammie Hudson in Ludowici, GA. He was the second eldest out of 14 children. In the 1960s, Jimmy relocated to Brooklyn, New York and worked for over 30 years with the New York City District Council of Carpenters. Jimmy loved living in New York City for its diversity of foods, art and music. He loved walking Manhattan, where he would people watch and eat. Married once and from this union gained a daughter, Crystal Chavis, whom he loved dearly. Jimmy was known to care for his family and his friends. He wanted the best for everyone.
He loved listening to music, mostly oldies. His favorite song was "A Change Gone Come" by Sam Cooke. He also enjoyed a good hamburger, especially from the famous Junior's Restaurant located in downtown Brooklyn, NY. He was not big on watching movies, but he loved watching documentaries and playing games on his phone. If the tv went out or his cell phone stopped working, the neighbors could hear him calling for Crystal or Alvin to fix it ASAP.
Jimmy W. Hudson, aka "Rock", was dependable, solid in his word and a strong-willed man. He was a forgiving man, a humble man and a man of great character.
He departed this life in the mid-afternoon on February 2, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wornie Wilcox Cummings, Sammie Hudson and 5 siblings.
He leaves to cherish his memory; 9 siblings, Geraldine, Pauline, Edwina, Rachel, Eloise, Annette, Lewis, Bobby and Ronny; his daughter, Crystal and son in law, Alvin; grandchildren; Dominique, AJ, Raine, Troi; great grands, Seleah, Amara and Amaziah; a host of loved ones, relatives and close friends.
