Joe Lendsey Harmon Sr. was born on May 13, 1950 in Colquitt County, Georgia to the late Melzie Harmon and the late Emma Lou Harmon. He transitioned to his eternal home in Heaven on August 31, 2021. Duke was the seventh child of which five proceeded him in death; (Melzie Harmon, Dennis Broody, Belzie Harmon, Mary Lou Harmon, & Ricky Harmon). In addition, he leaves behind 3 brothers Eddie Harmon (Helen), Freddie Harmon (Veronica), Buddy Harmon, & 4 sisters Zonia McMillian (John), Lula Harmon, Rosie Hansley (Johnnie), & Lizzie Harmon.
Joe graduated from Hazlehurst High School in 1970. During his time at Hazlehurst High, he was an active basketball player. He was a diligent employee of Jeff Davis Hospital for over 25 years. He was also an active member of Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church for many years where he served faithfully. To know him was to love him. He was a man of integrity with a great sense of humor. He loved the hobby of fishing, as well as cooking. Not to mention his great sound of music. With knowing him personally, you truly knew how dearly he loved his family.
He leaves to celebrate his legacy of love, a loving and devoted wife of 28 years, Miranda Mcrae- Harmon. He is the proud father of two children whom he leaves precious memories in the hearts and minds of Joe (Eva) Harmon Jr. & Jaylar Harmon of Hazlehurst, GA. Three grandchildren whom he loved to pieces: Ariana Harmon, Briana Harmon, Joshua Harmon, & a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, & friends.
