John Howard Cook

Mr. John Howard Cook was born March 27, 1936 in Screven County, Georgia, to the parentage of the late Sam and Liza Gordon Cook. On November 27, 2022, John transitioned peacefully at home surrounded by family.

He was educated in the public schools of Screven County. John left the South and moved up North to East Orange, New Jersey for better employment opportunities. He worked over 20 years at Roth Auto Coach Works and then at B&F Gas Station until he retired. Also, he was in partnership with two of his brothers as a body and fender repairman.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Sam and Liza Cook Gordon, wife: Mary Will Scott Cook. brothers: Sam Cook, James (Joan) Cook, Sister: Lizzie (Rufus) Cook Moody, son: John A Mercer, and two grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish his memories forever; children: Linda (Robert Jr.) Jones, James Mercer, LeeArthur Pitts, Sharon Brown, and Vinnie Brown, bonus children: Gwen Ross, Sandra Woods, Beverly Goss, and George (Earline) Scott, siblings: Seaborn (Nellie) Cook, Charlie (Dorothy) Cook, Joe (Coreatha) Cook, Eliza Gant, William (Carolyn) Cook and Ruth Graham, sister-in-law: Ella Cook, 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, a host of loving nephews, nieces, friends and a special caregiver Deborah Thomas.
