Johnnie Mae Tobler

Ms. Johnnie Mae Conaway was a resident of Jeff Davis County. Born on July 16, 1938, to the late John and Lola Conaway. She attended school at Wheeler County Training School.

She was united in marriage to the late George Tobler. Ms. Johnnie Mae was blessed with 7 boys and 2 girls. Later in life in 1964 she relocated to Newark, NJ where she gained employment at Rutgers University Hospital as a security officer until her retirement of 23 years. (1977-2000)

She was a member of the Northern Star and a member of the Traveling Ladies. In 2000 she relocated back home where she became a long-time member of Antioch CME Church and a loved traveling and spending time with her family.

She gained her wings in death on August 22, 2023, at home peacefully in her sleep. She is proceeded in death by her parents John and Lola Conaway. Her sibling John and Bernie Conaway, 3 children, Rosa Lee King, George, and James Tobler, and two beloved grandsons, Malik McRae and Richard Dawan Capers.

She leaves to cherish her memory six children. Franklin (Star) Conaway of Hazlehurst, GA. Bruce (Alberta) King of Hazlehurst, GA. Debra (Michael) McRae of Hazlehurst, GA. Michael Conaway (special friend Elizabeth Hood) of Hazlehurst, GA. Tony (Angel) Clark of Portsmouth, VA. Cedric (Ardria) Clark of Thomasville, GA. And one loving God son Ricky Bush of New Jersey.

She has a total of 29 grandkids, she was blessed to live to see five generations of grandkids. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
