Jonathan Rainey, Jr.

Jonathan "Jimmy" Rainey, Jr. was called to rest on April 8, 2023. He was born on September 8, 1943, in Hazlehurst, Georgia. He was the ninth child of the late Joe Nathan and Jalanie (Blanding) Rainey. Jimmy served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 and was a Vietnam War Veteran. He was a faithful member of St. James A.M.E. Church where he served in numerous capacities until his transition.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted wife, Betty J. Rainey; two sons, Kenneth Rainey of Lumber City, GA and Alfred "Chuck" Rainey of Stone Mountain, GA; two daughters, Dr. Shanee' L. Rainey of Lithonia, GA and Mindi R. Rainey of Riverview, FL; one daughter, Betisha R. Rainey, preceded him in death; three loving grandchildren, K. Shamar Rainey, LaKenyia McRae-Jackson (Lasean), and Shakismate McRae; four great-grandchildren, Maya, Jaden, Davidson and Ahmar'e; two brothers, William Rainey (Mable) of Jacksonville, FL and Lawyer Rainey of Conyers, GA; two sisters, Odessa Clark of Hazlehurst, GA and Lear Rainey Golden of Jacksonville, FL; two brothers-in-law, Calvin "Mickey" Kornegay of Hazlehurst, GA and James Anderson and two sisters-in-law Gloria Williams and Mable Dilworth, all of Quincy, FL and of host of nieces, nephews and friends.
