Joseph Hall

February 22, 1943 — June 26, 2011

Mr. Joseph Hall age 68, was born on February 22, 1943 to Willie Dewitt and Gussie Mae (Ruth) Hall. Joseph was the ninth of twelve children. He graduated from Lyons Industrial High School in 1961 and subsequently joined the United States Army where he served his country as a military police officier. Shortly after joining the service, he married the love of his life, Betty Jo Kurtz. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, he and Betty relocated to Miami, FL where they raised four children. While residing in Miami, Joseph began his career with the United States Cold Storage that spanned the course of 36 years. He also was an active member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where he was a faithful member, Sunday School Teacher and president of the Laymen's Minisrty. On June 26, 2011 Joseph was called from this earthly realm, into eternal glory. Joseph is survived by his wife, Betty Jo(Kurtz) Hall; three daughters; Mattie Sims, Sidney Hall, Shewanda Y. Hall and Jennifer Hall-Jenkins (Kerensky), all of Miami, FL; four grandchildren; Shantavia L. Gause of Atlanta, GA; Earnest Sims Jr. of Miami, FL, Sean and Jacquline Jenkins of Miami, FL, Joseh also leaves to mourn eight siblings; Willie Dewitt Hall (Avery), Mildred Lane (W.C.) of Flint, Michigan; Henrietta Lee (Robert) of Flint, Michigan, Louise Gordon of Miami, FL, Frances Perkins of Uvalda, GA James Hall (Catherine) of Miami, FL Hilda Kelly (Charles) of Uvalda, GA and Maxwell Hall (Betty) of Miami, FL. Also leaves to mour many nephews, nieces, and sorrowful relatives and friends. Funeral service will be Saturday July 2, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Isle of Hope Church in Uvalda, GA. Burial will folllow in the church cemetery with military honors. Viewing and Visitation will be held Friday, July 1, 2011 at the funeral home from 4:00 - 8:00pm. King Brothers Funeral Home of Hazlehurst, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.
