Josie Anna Cox was born on November 16,1956 in Jeff Davis County to the late Marion Elijah and Mary Magdalene Hall. On Thursday, September 3,2026, she transitioned from this earthly life, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, and devotion to family.
Josie gave her life to God at an early age. She was a devoted woman of God whose life was marked by faith, love, family, and service to others. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about, it was reflected in the way she lived, loved, cared, and gave of herself. Josie was a member of Green Cypress Missionary Baptist Church in Claxton, GA, where she served as a Deaconess.
Throughout her working years, Josie was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She worked at Ithica and later at Mascot Candy Factory for several years. However, one of her greatest sources of pride and joy was having the opportunity to work alongside her husband at his construction company, Cox Creative Products and Construction. Working together allowed them to share not only their life and family, but also the rewards of building and working side by side.
She was a devoted wife for 45 years, sharing more than four decades of marriage, commitment, and memories with her beloved husband. Through life’s joys and challenges, she remained committed to the home and family they built together.
She was also a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family was one of her greatest joys, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with those she loved. She treasured family gatherings and loved to collect pictures of her family to commemorate those memories. She was affectionately known as the family cook. Preparing meals was one of the many ways she expressed her love. She especially enjoyed helping care for her grandchildren, creating memories they will cherish for years to come.
Her devotion to family could also be seen in the loving care she gave to her own parents. As they grew older and needed assistance Josie helped care for them faithfully until the end.
A Lasting Legacy Josie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jet Arthur Cox; her parents: Marion Elijah and Mary Magdalene Hall; one sister Carolyn Richards; one brother-in-law Marvin Anderson.
