On November 18, 2022, at 7:45 pm, Kenneth Lamar Lawhorn received his wings. He was born August 29, 1959 in Hazlehurst GA to Jewell Lawhorn and Lee Willis Wright. After sustaining a brain injury on his 35th birthday that he survived and thrived for many years. He also succumbed to that brain injury from a brain stroke on the evening of November 18, 2022, in Douglas County Hospital.
Kenneth was the oldest son of our Mother Jewell out of four. Our oldest sister Karen preceded him in life just 2 months ago and our mother in 2009. Leaving to cherish his memory, three children two sons Kenneth and Timothy of Hazlehurst GA., and one daughter Latoya from Lumber City GA., our brother Tony Young (Linda) sister Paula Y. Wiltshire (Joseph), and Sister/Cousin Demaris Lawhorn. Kenneth also had siblings from his father, Wendy, Wanda, Polly, and Patrick Wright. Auntie Josie whose been a constant in his life been with us through it all. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Kenneth was an A student in high school when he graduated from high school in 1977, he worked briefly for Alco Controls. He later moved to and lived in Jacksonville FL., for many years until he later moved back to Hazlehurst. My brother had one of the sweetest souls and always had a smile on his face. He was very unbothered and let most things just roll off his sleeve. He was nonconfrontational and many people mistook that as being scary, however when he did get angered people soon saw he was not as scary as assumed. My brother was a fighter at heart, as he overcame a brutal beating to his head by a coward from behind on his 35th birthday within inches of his life. With the Grace of God and our mother after spending 3 months in ICU, our mother brought him home and nursed him back to health. He lived a great quality of life until 9 years ago his doctor signed him into the Lumber City Rehab where he almost lost his life due to negligence during Covid until last year when he was relocated to Hazlehurst Court.
Our brother we love you but our Heavenly Father loves you and needed you more. You fought the good strong fight and you endured more than any one person should and you never complained. Although our hearts are aching right now, we know the Lord doesn't make any mistakes. You're no longer in pain and your soul can rest in the Lord. You're now reunited with our mom, Grandma Daddy and Sis and safe in our Savior's arms. Another Angel to watch over us. It's not goodbye only see you later until we come together again. Your memory is a keepsake from which I'll never part. God has you in his arms now, we have you in our heats.
