Lillie Gail Sanders Hicks was born October 13, 1952, in Tattnall County, GA, to the parentage of WC. and Almeada Sanders. She graduated from Tattnall County Industrial High School in 1970. Gail first met Freddie Hicks Jr. in the 7th grade, and after high school, they were joined in holy matrimony on April 3, 1971. To this union, two children were born, Yvette and Freddie "Trey" Hicks III.
Gail was raised in Greater Zechariah Baptist Church, and in her later years, she helped her husband, Freddie Jr., as part of the founding members of New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, Glennville, GA. She served as a Deaconess and a member of the choir for many years.
Gail had a love for people of all ages, but especially small children. She began her career at the Glenvue Nursing Home, but later followed her passion for working with children. To the Glennville Head Start as a classroom aide and worked her way up to the Center Coordinator for many years until retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Yolanda Yvette Hicks and a son, Freddie "Trey" Hicks III; 1 uncle, Joe Sanders; a special cousin, Reverend Will White; godson, Michael Harvey; a god sister, Betty Mincey, an adopted daughter, Teena (Tray) Williams; adopted grandkids, Tre'sor and Trayvon; sisters in law, Maxine (Norris) Coley and Janice Oglesby; brother in law, Johnny (Mamie) Brown; nieces and nephews, Tina (Andrew) McFarland and Jason Jinks; special cousins, Marilyn King, Reba King Feliciano, and Margret King Drinks; her best friend, Cynthia Jones; a special friends, Patrica Bacon and Magnolia Murphy; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
