Mrs. Lizzie D. (Murphy) Alston went on to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital at the age of 47. She was a devoted wife and mother. Although home was where her heart was, she was briefly employed by Kraft Foods and later by Fayetteville Christian School as a substitute teacher and cafeteria worker. She is a native of Tattnall County and a graduate of Glennville High School Class of 1980. She is the daughter of the late Larry and Dolly Mae Murphy of Glennville, Ga. She was a member of the Outreach for Jesus Church in Hopeville, N.C.
She is survived by her husband, Nathaniel; daughter, Jessica; and 3 sons: Derrick, Richard and Emmanuel. Brothers: Michael and Ronald Murphy; Sisters: Brenda L'Herrise and DeLoris Murphy. Her mother-in-law Mrs. Rosa Lee Alston of Glennville, Ga. and a host of in-laws, aunts, uncles, neices, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Her love for God was expressed in every minute of her life. In spite of all circumstances, she would always say, 'God is Faithful.'
A memorial service will take place Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Outreach for Jesus Church in Hopeville, N.C. with Pastor Dorothy Batts.
A Homegoing Celebration will be Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Zachariah Missionary Baptist Church in Glennville, Ga. with burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation from 12:00 - 6:00 at King and Son's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 8, 2009 and the wake from 7:00 - 8:00 at the funeral home.
