Lizzie Mae Whitehead was born July 13, 1934 in Montgomery County, GA to John D. Adams and Sadie Mae Peterson Adams, both preceded her in death. On Saturday May 29, 2021 while at home she peacefully went to sleep while surrounded by her heartbroken family as we loved and held her.
Liz attended school in Ailey, GA
She became a Jehovah Witness and remain faithful until death.
Liz Whitehead was known and loved by many who knew her to be kind and willing to help anyone. She was a small business owner, "Liz's Fabric Shop" where she sold fabric and tailor made the simplest outfit to tailored men's suits.
She was the first African American to become a foster parent in Toombs County and opened her home to many children whom she loved as Family. She loved her family and desired all to be united and love each other.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Whitehead, sons, Kelvin and Renard; daughter, Sabra; great grandson, Antoine Jr.; siblings, -four brothers Buck Adams, Alvin Adams, IJ Adams and Otis Adams; four sisters, Rosetta Reddish, Brenda McMillian, Shirley Bennett and Alice Wells.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Jacqueline (Bill) Draper of Glennville, GA; her son Kyle Bowles of Glennville, GA; her daughter Glinda (Bobby) Cooper of Vidalia, GA; six grandchildren Tyrone V. Miller, Antoine Miller, Ajamu Miller, Norisha Miller, Lisa Whitehead and Markez Green; five great grandchildren, Tyrone Miller, Jr., Jawaun Miller, Najah Reddish, Darius Jones, and Karter Green; three great-great grandchildren, DeAndre, Anais and Maliha. A special granddaughter through love, Ena Mills; great grandchildren, Eyanna, Maria, Demery, Devine and DeMontarious; great-great grandchildren, Brielle, Tj, Vaeh, Cari and Da'Marion; special daughter and caregiver Maybeline Bridges. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many foster children.
