Mr. Lovarn Grantham (Rootman) passed away Sunday January 25, 2009 at his home in Long County after a short illness. He was born in Tattnall County, Georgia to the late Barney Grantham and Claudie Mae Bacon on June 13, 1951 and was raised by the late Mrs. Arles Bacon.
He attended Long County and Tattnall County public schools. He was a member of First African Baptist Church, Glennville, Georgia and joined under the leadership of Rev. Martin Bacon. He was a farmer for many years for G&R Dasher Farm in Glennville, Ga.
He leaves to cherish his memories two sisters Geraldine Tillman of Brooklyn, New York and Betty (Otto) Lewis of Glennville, Georgia. Two brothers Jimmy Bacon of Glennville, Georgia and Melvin Grantham of West Palm Beach, Fla. A special friend Johnnie Mae Moody, a special cousin Donohue McNeal, Jean McNeal and Nathan Bacon, and a host of neices, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, February 2, 2009 from 11 am until 7 pm. Wake from 7 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be Tuesday February 3, 2009 at 1 pm at First African Missionary Baptist Church in Glennville, GA.
Interment will be in the Halltown Cemetery.
