Lula Mae Wilcox

Mother Lula Mae Wilcox was born on May 8, 1934, in Glennville, Ga.

She was the second of eight children born to the late LD Roberson and the late Florence Berry Goods. Her siblings who preceded her in death include her sister Alma Singleton, sister Dilva Ogletree, brother Albert Roberson, and brother Henry Roberson.

She accepted Christ at a young age and joined Greater Zachariah Missionary Baptist Church under the guidance of T. J. Lynch. Later, she became a member of First African Missionary Baptist Church, where she was mentored by Reverend E. J. Junior. Mother Wilcox was actively involved in the church community as a member of the E.J. Junior Christian Women Guilds, a Pastor Aide, and a dedicated choir member. On May 8, 2022, she was honored by First African Missionary Baptist Church for her appointment to the Mother's Board by Reverend Derrick Ryals, Senior Pastor.

Mother Wilcox loved to sing, participating not just at First A. B. but with any church choir that welcomed her. She was recognized for twenty-five years of loyal and dedicated service to the Senior Choir of St. James AME church. Additionally, she sang with the Greater Zachariah choir for over twenty years and was honored as "Mother" of their choir. Her last performance with the Zachariah choir occurred on September 21, 2025. She earned the title of "Community Choir Member" for her tradition of singing in different choirs during anniversaries, including the Rachel Baptist Church Choir, Baxley, Ga. Mother Wilcox remained a devoted member until the Lord called her to eternal rest.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to LC Wilcox Sr. To this union, she had 13 children. She was preceded in death by her husband, LC Wilcox, SR.; son, Michael Wilcox; daughters, Terra D. Wilcox; and Verdine Wilcox Blake. She leaves to mourn her eight daughters, Gloria McDonald, Atlanta, Ga., Mary (AL) Loveless, Goodyear, Arizona; Tearesa Wilcox, Elaine Smiley, all from Glennville, Grenda (Al) McClure, Jesup, Ga.; Loretta (Marvin) Dickson, Hinesville, Ga; Cynthia (Edgar) Freeman, Claxton, Ga; Lorraine Wilcox Foster (Donnie) Brown, Colorado, Springs, Colorado; Sharon Wilcox, Irvine, California and two sons, LC (Marion) Wilcox Jr. Claxton, Ga; Christopher (Maheswari) Wilcox, Glennville, Ga. Sister, Doris Andrews, Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Elder Roberson, Claxton, Ga; brother, Herman Roberson, Decatur, Ga. One goddaughter, Missionary Audrey (Carlos) Allen, neighbor/daughter, Sharry Broadhurst, and neighbor/son, LaVaughn Howard; Special Daughter, Maria Sharpe Arthur; 30 grands, 62 great grands, 12 great-great grands.; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Funeral Service was held Friday, October 17, 2025 at the First African Baptist Church, Glennville, GA and burial followed in the Greater Zachariah Baptist Church, Glennville.

King and Sons Funeral Home and Cremation Services were in charge of the arrangements for Mother Lula Mae Wilcox.
