Mrs. Mamie Porter Stephens, 93, of Glennville, Ga. passed away at her resident on Wednesday, August 24, 2011.
She was born September 29, 1917 in Long County and she is the oldest of ten children to Oscar and Sally Cook Porter.
She was married June 10, 1935 to the late Charlie Richard Stephens to this union five children were born three preceded her in death. She was a member of Greater Zachariah Missionary Baptist Church in Glennville, Ga.
She is survived by two children: Annie Laura Stephens of Glennville, Ga. and Betty (Barnard)Berry Ludowici, Ga. One daughter-in-law: Carolyn Stephens of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., 11 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and three step great grandchildren.
One sister Lela Mae Deloach of Jersey City, N.J., three brothers: James Porter of Glennville, Ga., Willie Porter of Jersey City, N.J. and Harry Porter of Cleveland, Ohio and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Greater Zachariah Baptist Church at 12:00 noon with Dr. C.L. Anderson officiating and burial in the church cemetery.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 12:00 - 6:00 at the chapel of King and Son's Funeral Home.
