Marion Mcgauley

January 8, 1944 — April 5, 2022

Marion McGauley, 78, entered God's rest on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, GA. After enduring a lengthy illness, our gracious Father allowed him to finish his fight and take flight to be with Him while surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 8, 1944, in Blackshear, GA to the late Nellie Mae Ladler McGauley and Jacob Wesley McGauley. Marion received his formal education in the Pierce County School System. He was married to Annie Maude Vereen and to this union two amazing children were born, Stephanie and Marion Alan McGauley. He also fathered a very caring son, Michael Murchinson. His heart was later captivated by a young lady with whom he fell in love and married, Terrie D. Wilson. These two were each other's world until his sudden death. Through Marion's union with Terrie, he gained five children – LaTonya, Marsha, Shelia, Clinton and Freddie - whom he loved as his very own. Marion genuinely loved and served the Lord. His church affiliations included Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church of Blackshear and Solid Rock Christian Ministries of Hoboken. After years of dedication and faithfulness as a member of Solid Rock, Marion was ordained a deacon and fulfilled the duties of that office until his health rendered him unable to attend church and serve in that capacity. At an early age, Marion was instilled with family values that taught him the importance of honesty, integrity, hard work, and dependability. He was a loyal and valued employee of Bennett Oil Company from the age of 17 to the year 2003 when a work-related injury made it impossible for him to continue his employment with the company. Marion loved to watch westerns and it didn't matter if they were from the era of the old black and white TV shoot 'em up cowboy movies or the modern-day action-packed cliffhangers. He also loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and gardening. In the spring, everyone looked forward to corn, okra, tomatoes, and watermelons grown skillfully in the garden he cultivated. In the fall, greens filled the garden: mustards, turnips, and collards in such abundance that three or more neighborhoods could be fed. Much to everyone's delight, Marion, along with his brother Terrell, tended the family property until they were no longer able to do so. Preceding Marion in death were his son, Marion Alan McGauley; sisters, Bobbie Jean McGauley Pope (Harold), Pastor Dorothy Nell McGauley Smith, and Claudia Lee McGauley Wilcox; two brothers, Thomas Lee McGauley Sr. (Mary Jean) and Edmund Terrell McGauley Sr.; nephews, Ahmon Axson, James Donell McGauley Jr., Earl Smith Jr. and Thomas McGauley Jr.; sisters-in-law, Annette Brickle McGauley, Verndell Wilson Brown, Mrytice Wilson Bellamy, Artice Wilson Johnson, and Vivian Wilson Pierce; and brothers-in-law, Cecil Jones, Leonard Gallashaw, and Alton Wilson. Left to cherish Marion's memory are his loving wife, Terrie D. McGauley; children, Stephanie McGauley, Michael (Brenda) Murchinson Sr., LaTonya McGauley, Marsha (Roger) Hill Anderson, Shelia Hill, Clinton Wilson, and Freddie Hill Jr.; grandchildren, Chase McGauley, Doug (LeAnne) McGauley, Michael (Tera) Murchinson Jr., Shanina Williams, Dedres Coffie, Michael Brown, Marionique Harris, Breanna Smith, Shakita Hill, Kaneeshia Hill, Brandi (Larry) Stephens, Marquia (Joshua) Sallet, Jacob (Keisha) McGauley, Terea McGauley; great grandchildren, Shamareya Atkins, Breyanna Smith, Brandon Smith, Trinity Muchison, Jadon Muchison, Khloe Sallet, Mikelah Ford, Noelle Ford, Robert Moody Jr., Jikeyse McGauley, Ava McGauley and Jayla McGauley, Ayden Edwards, Laila Stephens; two brothers, James McGauley Sr. and Jimmy McGauley Sr. (Lisa); two sisters, Belinda McGauley Jones and Debra McGauley Gallashaw; sister-in-law, Thewana Wilson Parrish; brother-in-law, Clinton (Mopsy) Wilson; a godson, Kishon Baker; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Visitation with the family and viewing will be Friday, from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Solid Rock Christian Ministries, 89 Dowling St., Hoboken, GA 31542.
