The Life of Mary Linda Eason
SISTER MARY LINDA EASON departed this life at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, Georgia on June 5, 2022. She was born to Ozzie and Mary Murphy on October 23, 1938, in Glennville, Georgia.
At an early age she became a member of Beulah No. 1 Baptist Church in Mendes, Georgia, under the pastorate of the late A.J. Richardson. She was united in holy matrimony to Eugene D. Eason. This union was blessed with six children. After her marriage she became a member of First African Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend E.J. Junior. She was a faithful and dedicated servant. She found pure joy in working in the church. She served as an usher, choir member, youth director, Sunday school teacher and deaconess. She loved people and enjoyed visits with family and friends. No one was a stranger to her. Everyone would always leave her home full of laughter and her good cooking.
Sister Eason and her husband were foster parents for Tattnall County DFACS. More than seventy-five children were fostered in their home. Her devoted service as a foster parent was one of her most rewarding ventures.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Ozzie and Mary Murphy; husband, Eugene; son, Terry; grandson, Terence; and siblings, Clinton, Eugene, Larry and Betty.
Memories of love and life will be cherished by: her children, Theron (Mattie Joyce) Eason, Bernard Eason, Larry (Linda Gail) Eason, Sr., Lorna King (Wynn White), Felicia Jones, Sharleta (Mal) Calhoun and Nickolas Eason; step-daughter, Judy Jones; Goddaughter, Marjorie (Joseph) Nesby; foster son, Chris Byrd; sisters, Janice (Cleo) Washington and Melvina Leger; step-sisters, Lula Mae Wilcox, Doris Andrews and Dealva Olgestree; step-brothers, Elder Roberson and Herman Roberson; sisters-in-law, Bernice Murphy, Zelma Caswell, Nellie (Seaborn) Cook, Odessa Eason and Bernice Caswell; brother-in-law, David Stephens; devoted nephew, Michael Murphy; special daughter, Edginee Eason; eighteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
