Maxie Burney, St.

Mr. Maxie Burney, Sr., 68, of Hazlehurst Ga passed away on June 28, 2006. Mr. Burney was born in Telfair County October 23, 1937 to the late Rev. Charlie and Ida Parker Burney. At an early age Mr. Burney became a member of Kirkland Grove Missionary Baptist Church were his father, the late Rev. Charlie Burney was the pastor, serving faithfully until he moved to Michigan. He was united in marriage to Mrs Betty Lou Dotson Burney and to this union four children were born.Mr. Burney was employed with Goodyear Rubber and Tire Company of Jackson, Michigan and retired after 32 years of service from the Union City, TN Goodyear Rubber and Tire Company. He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife, Mrs. Betty L. Dotson Burney of Hazlehurst,GA; five daughters Deborah L. Johnson (Brenden) of Hinesville, GA, Cynthia Y. Burney of Union City,TN, Michele D. Burney of Sumter, SC, Debra A. (Michael) McRae of Hazlehurst,GA and Donita M. Johnson of Indianapolis, ID; One son Maxie L. Burney,Jr (Kendra) of Union City, TN; a devoted nephew, DeAndre C. Burney of Hazlehurst,GA; six sisters Jeannie P. Hall, Genevieve B. (Ronnie) Redmond, Irene Mitchelle all of Denver, CO, Deloris Wooten, Edna M. (James) Ward of Macon, GA, and Pauline Story of Albion, MI; two brothers Charlie S. Burney of Albionm MI and John Burney of Hazlehurst, GA; his step-mother Omie Lee Mackey Burney of Glenwood,GA; three step-sisters Charlie Mae Barnes and Jewell Lee of Glenwood, GA and Sarah L. Cray of Cordele,GA; one step-brother, Roy L. Mackey of Glenwood, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy (Tommy) Dotson of Hazlehurst, GA and Evelyn (Herman) Gibson of Albion,MI; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
