Kornegay Clinton Obituary Minnie Louise Kornegay Clinton, daughter of the late Reverend Elijah Kornegay and the late Mrs. Bertha Zinnamon Kornegay McRae, was born February 20, 1932, in Appling County, Graham, Georgia. She passed into eternal rest on Thursday, October 16, 2014. Mrs. Clinton graduated from Hazlehurst High School in 1952. After graduating from high school, she enrolled in Savannah State (College) University, where she earned a BS degree in Business Education with a minor in Mathematics in 1956. While attending Savannah State, she was a member of the Women's Basketball Team and the Women's Glee Club. Minnie's drive, tenacity, and absolute determination to succeed were reflected in virtually everything she did. She often said, 'There is no such thing as can't.' During her lifetime, she was a teacher, an auditor, an entrepreneur, a fashion designer, and a caregiver. She succeeded in all of them. In 1956, Mrs. Clinton began her career as a teacher at Jesup High School in Jesup, Georgia, where she completed three years of service. Next, she taught night classes at Alfred E. Beach High School in Savannah, Georgia, for approximately three years. Minnie's next move was to New York, New York, where she taught college courses at American Business Institute for about six years. After that, she decided to go into the business world. In the world of business, Minnie worked for RKO Studios and Holly Stores Inc. as a Corporate Auditor. Following that, she took a position at Columbia University as a student loan administration. During that same period, she designed over 300 garments and produced and directed numerous fashion shows during the forty years that she lived and worked in New York. Upon moving back to Hazlehurst, she opened a new business, Diabetic Therapeutic Ambulating Footwear. In addition to operating her business, Minnie served as lead volunteer in the state of Georgia's HICARE Program where she provided assistance to the blind, disabled, and elderly for a total of six years. She was also a fitness trainer for Concerted Services Senior Citizens Center, and she conducted two radio shows related to the same matters. Mrs. Clinton received several awards from HICARE. Minnie was preceded in death by three brothers: Joseph Elijah, Robert Marlin, and James Willis. She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter -- Falisa Kay Scott (Willie E.) of Lithonia, GA; one son - Steward B. Clinton of Hazlehurst; one grandson - Steward D. Clinton of Decatur, GA; five sisters - Laura K. Irwin of Dublin, GA, Bertha K. Dixon (James) of Browns Summit, NC, Bernita K. Dinwiddie (Theodore) of Hilliard, FL, Susie K. Williams (George) of Savannah, GA, and Marsha E. Kornegay of Lithonia, GA; four brothers - Charles R. Kornegay (Patricia) of Orlando, FL, Thomas S. Kornegay (Kami) of Winter Garden, FL, Rev. Alton L. Kornegay (Sharon) of Greensboro, NC, and David O. Kornegay (Sandra) of Winter Park, FL. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will take place Friday, October 24 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at King Brothers Funeral Home, 151 Martin Luther King Blvd., Hazlehurst, GA 31539. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014, 12 noon at Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church, 26 Martin Luther King Blvd., Hazlehurst, GA. The body will be placed in the church for viewing at 11:00 a.m. Visitation: Friday October 24, 2014 from 4 pm until 7 pm at King Brothers Funeral Home Funeral: Saturday October 25, 2014 at 12:00 pm at Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church Interment: Morgan Chapel Church Cemetery Graham, GA
