A Reflection of the Life of Mordecai Wilcox Sunrise April 11, 1960 Sunset March 27, 2020 Mordecai Wilcox was born April 11, 1960, in Jeff Davis County to the late Rev. William Riley Wilcox and the late Missionary Carrie Lott Wilcox. Mordecai grew up and attended school in Jeff Davis. He worked at several established businesses in Hazlehurst. Beginning with Ridge Pallet and then Woody Folsom, Mordecai went on to start his own business, Wilcox Lawn and Handy Services. Known throughout his community, Mordecai loved being outdoors. He was always on the go, which allowed him to be a help to the elderly and others who were in need. With eyes that always lit up when they saw you and a smile to match, Mordecai will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his late parents, William R. and Carrie Wilcox, three siblings, Harriet Wilcox, James Riley Wilcox, and Carrie Elnora Rooks. Leaving behind to cherish his memory will be two sisters, Balinzie Mae Wilcox and Pastor Caldeen Wilcox, nieces Leslie Clark, Tara Wilcox, Denay Davis, and Chaka (Freddie) Cockrell, nephews Edward (Brianna) Rooks, Jermaine (Tracey) Wilcox, Jerald Wilcox, Justin Wilcox, Deondre Wilcox, and a host of great nephews and nieces, cousins, and sorrowing friends as well as a special friend, Brenda Joyce Turner.
