Mother Mable Jones

Mother Mable Jones, 97 passed away Friday, December 9, 2011 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, Ga. Mable Juanita Shaw Jones was born October 26, 1914 to the Late James (Jim) Shaw and Sophia Maria Buie Shaw. She was educated in the Hoke County School System and graduated from Fayetteville State Teacher's College where she majored in Early Childhood Education. She was employed as a teacher in the Bulloch County School System and later taught in private pre-schools. She was married to the Late Johnny Lee Jones, Sr. She received Jesus as her personal Savior and was saved and baptized at the Portal Church of God where she served as Mother of the Church, Primary and Youth 1 and 2 Sunday School Teachers, Church Secretary, Missionary Presdent, Choir Director, Youth Advisor, and President of the Usher Board. She later joined Center of Life - Church of God and served as Mother of the Church until her health failed. She was loved by many and believed to truly serve God in the Church you must be born again. She did not believe in missing church service and often went in very poor health. She is preceeded in death by four sisters, three brothers, one son Clifton Edward (Butch) Jones and one daughter-in law Ellen (Bet) Brack Jones. She is surivived by her children: two sons Willilam Henry(Billy) Shaw Jones of Statesboro GA and Johnny Lee (Debra) Jones of Stone Mountain GA. Two daughters Juanita Lee Facyson (Russell) Thompson of New London CT and Modestine Juanita Jones (Tony) Harden of Statesboro GA. One brother, Walter Haywood (Jack) Shaw of Raeford NC Three brothers- in-laws, Gatrell (Udell) Jones, Roosevelt (Reatha) Jones, and Lonnie (Betty) Jones all of Portal GA. Five Sisters-in-laws, Earnestine (Walter) Smith of Portal GA, Sherbie Jean Culbreath of Twin City GA, Candacy Jones, Darlene Jones, and Cynitha Jones all of Statesboro GA. One goddaughter, Rev. Arlene Pierce. Eighteen grandchildren, and twenty-nine great-grandchildren and a host of neices, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Mable Jones will be held Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11:00 at Elm Street Church of God in Statesboro, Ga. Mrs. Jones will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. at Elm Street Church of God prior to the service. Burial will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens in Statesboro, Ga. No wake service. Family visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2011 at King and Sons Funeral Home in Glennville, Ga. from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. King and Son's Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
