Laura Geraldine Henry, affectionately known as “Dean,” was born Laura Geraldine Martin on January 20, 1932 to the late Isaiah Martin and Inez Brock Porter. A devoted woman of faith and a pillar of her community. Laura was a faithful member of the Women Missionary Society, Stewardess, and Church Mother at St. James A.M.E. Church in Glennville, Georgia.
She was preceeded in death by her husband Charles J. Henry Sr.; father, Isaiah Martin; her mother, Inez Brock Porter; her stepfather, George “Cot” Porter; her son, Larry Henry; and her sister, Laura Porter Williams.
Laura leaves her children to cherish her memory: Brenda Smith (Edward), Patricia Simmons, Charles J. Henry Jr. (Angielea), LaVerne Burks, Gilbert Henry, Leatrice Middleton (Stanley), Anthony Hicks Sr., and Kascey Ifill (Wayne); along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Her faith, love, wisdom, and service to others will remain a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Laura with a visitation to be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 5pm-7pm at Kingbrothers Funeral Home located at 5236 US Highway 301 South, Glennville, GA 30427.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 11:00am at St. James A.M.E. Church located at 512 Laura Street, Glennville, GA 30427. Interment will follow at the Sandhill Cemetery, Glennville, GA. A repast will follow the burial at St. James A.M.E. Church.
