Mr. Ottis Jones was born in Vidalia , Georgia on June 19, 1943. Mr. Jones passed away at the Augusta Burn Center on February 7, 2022 . He was seventy-eight years old.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie and Ira Jones.
Ottis will be remembered for his wonderful smile, his humble attitude toward life, his kind Christian heart, and his hard work ethic. Mr. Jones accepted Jesus Christ as his savior as a young boy. He attended church as often as possible and loved being with other church members.
Mr. Jones enjoyed western movies and listening to Christian music. He was often seeing riding his bicycle with the basket to the Glennville Bank, Strickland's Pharmacy, Dr. Paul Thompson's office , and Dollar General.
When Ottis was a young boy, he started working with a logging crew. His job was to manage the chain saw and limb the pine trees before they could be loaded onto the log truck.
In addition to logging, Mr. Jones worked for H.C. Brannen and Leah Wells Outlaw washing cars and detailing them. He also was a master at repairing bike tires.
At Christmas for several years, Mr. Jones helped Henry O'Neal repair used bicycles to give to children who needed them. He loved wearing his Santa Hat and having his picture in the local paper.
Ottis Jones, your smiling face and quick laugh will be missed throughout Glennville. Those of us who called you our friend rejoice in your home going to be with Jesus and being completely healed. We know without a doubt your body has been made new. You are now walking without any problem, seeing clearly, and you're able to sing all the hymns you loved so much.
It was a honor to call you our friend, and we will see you again one day.
