Ralph Sherman Jr.

Life's journey: I'm at peace, my soul's at rest, I'm free.

Alpha: Born December 17, 1956, in Dexter, Ga., to the late Ralph Sr. and Ethel Mae Sherman. He lived in Jacksonville, Fla., for a short period of time and then moved to Flemington, Fla., where he resided with his uncle and aunt, the late Oner and Idella Sherman-Gordon.

Education: Marion County public schools.

Matrimony: married the love of his life, Willie Marie Little, on May 2nd, 1977.

Employment: U.S. Army for 22 years. Also worked on Fort Stewart military base for Lockheed Martin. He served his country all over the world. His last assignment was at Fort Stewart, Ga., where he retired and resided with his family in Hinesville, Ga., nearby.

Church affiliation: He was baptized and raised up in Liberty Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a part of the youth choir until he left for the Army. During his time in Hinesville, Ga., he attended Pillar in Zion Church foreseen under Bishop Lockett.

Omega: Friday, August 2, 2024, God decided to pick one of our best as His angel.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, David Copeland, Bobby Copeland and Tommy Copeland; an uncle and aunt, Oner and Idella Sherman-Gordon; grandparents and brothers-in-law.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories: a loving wife of 47 years, Willie Marie Sherman; two daughters, Tiwana and Tony Johnson and Jackline Sherman, both of Hinesville, Ga.; three sons, Timothy and Kimberly Sherman of Godley, Texas; Terence and Keisha Sherman of Atlanta, Ga.; and Steven Sherman of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, sisters, Essie Sherman-Drayton of Georgia, Mary Sherman-Payton of Flemington, Fla.; and sister/cousin, Mary Francis Weeks of Flemington, Fla.; brothers-in-law, sister-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
