Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Raven Alexandria Ervin

January 23, 1984 – November 27, 2024

Her fight was fierce, her spirit unbreakable, and her love eternal.

Though she is no longer with us, her strength continues to inspire us all.

Raven Alexandria Ervin, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, educator, and friend, peacefully transitioned home on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in Glennville, Ga. Born on January 23, 1984, in Stuttgart, Germany, to Joe and Barbara Ervin, Jr., Raven lived a life vibrant and full of adventure. The eldest of their two children, Raven was always loving, supportive, and fiercely protective of her younger brother, Joe Ervin III. As a military child, she experienced the world from various corners, living in Germany, Oklahoma, Alabama, Arizona before settling in her parents' home state of Georgia, where she graduated from Long County High School.

Raven's academic journey was a testament to her dedication and love of learning. After earning her undergraduate degree from Armstrong State University, she went on to complete her master's degree from Armstrong State University in 2017, before obtaining her Master's Specialist Degree in Teacher Leadership from Thomas University in 2021.

Raven found her true calling in the field of education, dedicating over seventeen (17) years to the Long County School System. Throughout her tenure, she became a cherished educator, inspiring and positively impacting the lives of countless students. Her commitment has left an enduring legacy within the community.

Beyond the classroom, Raven exemplified the true essence of motherhood through her unwavering devotion to her two sons, Zion Mekhi and Nasir O'rion. As the ultimate football mom, Raven took the time to send heartfelt text messages filled with words of support and encouragement before every game. Her motivational words not only conveyed her steadfast belief in their abilities but also empowered her boys to approach any challenge with confidence, knowing they had her unwavering support behind them.

Whether she was loudly cheering on her boys from the sidelines, capturing memories through the lens of her camera, or sharing her flair for fashion with all who knew her, Raven did everything with style and heart. Her ability to make the world around her more vibrant was evident in her laughter, boundless generosity, and unwavering faith as a Christian woman. Always ready to extend a helping hand or offer a kind word, Raven had an extraordinary gift for brightening the days of those she encountered with her beautiful smile and dynamic energy. Her presence was a testament to the profound impact of living life with compassion and love.

Raven is survived by her two children, Zion Mekhi Ervin and Nasir O'rion Reed; her parents, Joe and Barbara Ervin; her brother, Joe Ervin III; her sister, Janine Mungin; and her best friend of nearly 30 years, Ebony (Jackson) Daley. She is also remembered by her three godchildren: Mason Jones, Aria Heard, and La'zariah Wingate, along with a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who were blessed to know her.

Though Raven will be deeply missed by all who loved her, her enduring legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of those she touched.

"Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee."
