Rev. James W. Overstreet, 92, died at his home on Friday, April 7, 2006, under hospice care. He was a carpenter and an ordained minister of the Church of God of the Georgia General Assembly of the Church of God.
He was born on August 20, 1913, to the late Sarah B. and Henry Overstreet in Toombs Co., Georgia. He was preceded in death by wife, Lucile, his sons, Ralph and Jimmy Overstreet and eight siblings.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Anna Relaford Overstreet of Riceboro, GA; daughters, Mildred McPherson (Marion) of Savannah, GA, Annette Lloyd (Harry) of Midway, GA, Gertie Bacon (William) of Riceboro, GA; Marcia Walker (James) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Andrea Relaford of Newburg, NY; sons, Winston Relaford (Carolyn) of Green Cove Springs, FL, Julius Relaford and William Relaford (Barbette) of Savannah, GA, Osee Relaford Jr. (Jeannie) of Allenhurst, GA, Leon Relaford (Antionette) of Goldsboro, NC, Carlton Relaford (Barbara) of Miami, FL, Warren Relaford (Krisit) of Landstuhl, Germany, and Victor Relaford (Ursula) of Atlanta, GA; brothers-in-law, Jessie McCarr (Ruth) and Eddie McCarr (Mary) of Port Wentworth, GA; sisters-in-law, Edna Wallace of Savannah, GA, Nora Overstreet and Ola Mae Overstreet, both of Springfield, GA; fifty-nine grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren and a host of other relative and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 15, 2006, at 12:00 p.m., at North Side Church of God, Springfield, GA with Reverend Reginald Anderson officiating, interment followed in Oak Grove cemetery.
