Bishop Robert Lee Fryer Jr. was born April 12, 1943 to the late Robert Lee Fryer Sr. and the late
Bennie Lou McDuffie Fryer in Telfair County, Georgia. He was the second born out of ten
children and the oldest son. He departed this life on Saturday, July 31, 2021, in the Lumber City
Nursing and Rehab Center in Lumber City, Georgia.
Preceding him in death was his father Robert Lee Fryer Sr, his mother Bennie Lou McDuffie
Fryer, his sister Glenda Ann Nesbit, his grandparents Nathaniel and Simmie Bell McDuffie, his
father-in-law Willie Smith Jr., his mother-in-law Berthola Smith, his sister-in-law Lena Mae Smith,
his brother in laws Henry Franklin, George Peterson, Francis Paulk, Levi Rozier.
Bishop Robert Lee Fryer Jr. attended Telfair County Schools in his early years. He later moved
to Hazlehurst, Georgia and completed his education and graduated from Hazlehurst High
School in 1964. He received an Associates Degree of Theology from Slidell Baptist Seminary,
and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from Sound Doctrine Bible Seminary. He served many years
as an advisor to the Head Start Council, Concerted Services, Inc., and The Anointed End-Time
Women Warriors.
Bishop Robert Lee Fryer Jr. was a man of God who sold out to the Lord at an early age. He
was converted and filled with the Holy Ghost at the age of 13. He joined the Bennett Tabernacle
Holiness Church in Hazlehurst, Georgia, where he worked faithfully in the church under the
leadership of Bishop James Pitts, Mother Corrine Bennett, Mother Rosa Wright, and Mother
Lillian Surls who also provided the light, as well as, inspiration along the pathway to his ministry.
He was the pastor of The Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church, Hazlehurst, GA, The House of
Prayer, Tarrytown, GA, Moore's Chapel, Milan GA, Standing on the Solid Rock Holiness
Church, Uvalada, GA for many years. He was the Bishop and Overseer of the House of God
Church of the Living God Gates of Heaven in Georgia and Texas for many years.
On March 9, 1969 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Annie Mae Smith Fryer. To this union
three children were born.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Annie Mae Smith Fryer, Hazlehurst, GA one daughter
Tonda Logreta Fryer Parham(Ernest) of Lagrange, GA two sons: Thaddeus Marcel Fryer of
Atlanta, GA and Brandon Fontane Fryer of Green Bay, Wisconsin: four grandsons: Elijah Jerell
Parham, Jonathan Terrell Parham, Kamal Rashaud Parham, Jaylon Marcel Fryer, of Lagrange,
GA: three granddaughters Lonydn Latrice Fryer of Lagrange, and Lonydn Nevaeh of Augusta,
Ga: Jasmine Fergerson of Atlanta, GA, daughter in laws: Gwendolyn Fryer Milton, Lakeitha
Gay, Angel Fryer, and Tameka Mitchell four sisters: Josephine Coates, Orlando, Fl., Hannah
Mae Franklin, Kingsland, GA, Bennie Taylor (Robert) and Prophetess Lydia King, Hazlehurst,
Ga:four brothers: Horace (Delorise) Fryer, Hazlehurst, GA Jerry (Katherine) Fryer, Kingsland,
GA, Mikell (Margaret) Fryer, Phenix City, Al Leon (Teresa) Fryer, Lithonia, GA sister-in-laws:
Willena (Tommie) Moss, Shirley Pearl Smith, of Hazlehurst, GA, Mattie Mae Miley, Charlotte
Peterson, of Detroit, MI., Juanita Rozier, Hazlehurst, GA, Rosie Lee Paulk, of Baxley, GA, Nina
(Walter T) Johnson, of Hephzibah, GA, Josephine (Carl) Howard, of Dublin, GA, a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, god daughters and godsons, saints, and friends.
He leaves a special thanks to Dr. Michael Grego, Kevin Grego, Dr. Frank Bixler and Staff, Dr.
Turf and The Lumber City Nursing Home and Rehab for a job well done in my care.
