God summoned an Angel of the Lord to come down to retrieve his own and bring him higher to be a part of the heavenly host and take his rightful place among the Angels.
Mr. Ruben King Sr., 84, of Glennville, Ga. passed away at East Ga. Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, Ga. on Monday, March 14, 2016. He was born to the late Rev. Tyson and Iona Moore King in Wheeler County, Glenwood, Ga. on March 28, 1931.
After the passing of his mother he moved to Glennville, Ga. with his father and sister Pinkie where he joined the Greater Zachariah Baptist Church in Glennville, Ga. serving on the Usher Board under the leadership of Rev. T.J. Lynch.
He was led by the Holy Spirit and accepted Jesus as his personal Savior and was baptized on the 3rd Sunday in March 1956 under the leadership Rev. Robert Williams and Rev. J.W. Overstreet at Smith Street Church of God.
In later years as his walked with God he had a vision and led a church plant of Center of Life - Church of God.
The Tattnall County native was a founder and chairman Deacon of the Center of Life Church of God in Glennville, Ga., Founder of the Committee for Social Change and the Martin Luther King parade and celebration for 26 years, served as grand marshal in 2015 and he is the retired owner of King and Son's Funeral Home of Glennville, Ga. and King Brother's Funeral Home of Hazlehurst, Ga. He was blessed to have had five Licensed Funeral Director, three licensed embalmers and four ordained ministers.
His memories will be left in the care of his loving wife of 65 years Mrs. Novella Wright King of Glennville, Ga. Twelve children (two preceded him in death Don King and Richard King), Robbie (LeAnn) King of Hazlehurst, Ga., Dr. Randy (Sharon) King of Glennville, Ga., Verdie (Dr. J.C.) Williams of Reidsville, Ga., Ruben (Shirley) King, Jr. of Glennville, Ga., Randall L. (Mary) King, Sr. of Glennville, Ga., Dr. Reba K. (Ishmael) Feliciano of Glennville, Ga., Rev. Reginald King of Panama City, Fla., Rex (Cheryl) King of Pickerington, Ohio, Fronita (Marcus) Holston of Ellenwood, Ga., Rev. Russell (Kellie) King of Statesboro, Ga. Five generation of grandchildren: He raised a granddaughter as his daughter Rikki (John) Smith of Mobile, Ala., 47 grandchildren, 52 great grand children and five great grand children.
Sister: Mrs. Pinkie Brown of Glennville, Ga. a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
