Sylvester Rufus "Shorty" Lovett was born and raised in Glennville, GA on June 1, 1943 to the late Atris and Cassie Lovett. He departed this life at East Georgia Regional Hospital on October 26, 2021.
Sylvester started working at an early age on the farm. He was last employed with Lawrence Durham Logging, Inc. as a Logger for 30 years from which he recently retired. He was a member of White Pine Community Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Lester Grimes; brother, Sidney Lovett; Sister, Betty Sue Smith; and grandson, Randy Lovett.
Sylvester was a man of few words but a big smile. He may have been short in stature but he had a big heart.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 28 years, Patricia Berry Lovett; four children, three of which were born in union with Ola Mae Williams. Children: Joyce (Bert) Stiles, Diane Pickard and Wayne Lovett of Miami FL; Marquette Berry of Glennville, GA, a son he raised as his own.
Sisters: Dollie A. Bacon, Dessine (Horace) Hines, Louise Grant, Ida (Oscar) Grimes, Elder Gertie (Bishop Wallace) Grant; In-Laws: Charles (Joanne) Berry, Frederick Berry, Richard Berry, Pennie Berry, Bert Cooper and Bridgette Berry; Seven grandchildren, Six Great-Greatgrandchildren. A special grandson, BJ Stiles and a special granddaughter Markayla Berry and host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
