Mr. Sammy Earl Grady Ruffin, 58, of Hazlehurst, gained his wings Aug. 20 at Navient Health in Macon. Mr. Ruffin was born May 30, 1961, in Lauderdale County, Mississippi. After receiving his certification in Culinary Arts, he served as head chef in the Jeff Davis, Wheeler, and Toombs county areas for many years. He is preceded in death by his mother Lillie Weldon, father Edward Ruffin, grandparents Jonnie B. and Rosie Jack, sister Dorothy Sumlin, brother Ecclesiastes Grady. Survivors include brother John Grady of Hazlehurst; sisters: Shirley Harris of Meridian, Miss., Hazel (Sammie) Balkcom, and Lille Faye Grady Hall all of Atlanta, Larry Grady of Waycross; sisters Janice (Dean) Conaway of Lumber City, Sara (Jessie) Adams of Wilson Ark., Arlene (Willie) Hunt of Hazlehurst, Beverly (Jammie) Dalmida of Boynton Beach, FL. Service will be at King Brother Chapel, Hazlehurst, Sept. 1 at 1-4 p.m. Minister/Missionary Lille Faye Grady Hall will give words of comfort. The public is welcome to attend/visit.
