Tommy Lee Coleman

Tommy Coleman was born to the late Glover and Annie Coleman on May 25, 1947 in Homer, Louisiana. He departed this life on February 3, 2022 at Evans Memorial Hospital with his daughter by his side. Tommy graduated from Mayfield High School in 1967. In 1968, while attending San Francisco Junior College, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Vietnam war. He retired from the military in 1981. After he retired, he worked at Smith State Prison and was affectionately known as June Bug. He retired from the prison in 2003. He met Betty Coleman in 1980 and they married on August 22, 1985. They remained married until her death on August 28, 2016. Tommy was known throughout the community for being a gentleman and being well dressed. He had a servant's heart. He enjoyed helping others. He volunteered throughout Tattnall County and beyond for several decades and served of several different boards. In 2011 he was named Greater Tattnall Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the year. Tommy was preceded in death by his five brothers, Gilmer Coleman, Glover Coleman Jr., Deotus Coleman, Jasper Coleman; five sisters; Geneva Coleman Harper, Melinda Coleman White, May Jewel Thomas, Katie Coleman Howard, and Archie Mae Clark. He is survived by his children; Andre Maddox of Homer, LA, Anthony Dewayne Coleman (Margaret), Christopher Omark Coleman, Steven Lamont Coleman and Tynisha Coleman; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
